Post-Globalization Essay Awareness on the concept of globalization is crucial in contemporary times. As more organizations and individuals participate in activities and various applications that are global in nature, theories that encompass learning more about globalization through the University of Tampa’s Certificate in International Studies (CIS) are most relevant and useful. One’s personal contention of globalization is parallel with the focus on “ the process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology” (The Levin Institute, 1). My search for other meanings of the term give credence to my belief that globalization consists of systems and operating processes that aim to ultimately be interrelated with global protocols on a continuously growing exchange of transactions among diverse countries and regions (Marzui, 2001, 1). As a process, globalization is more prominent in today’s generation due to technological advances that provided the impetus for improved intercultural interaction traversing borders, distance and time. The United States (US) continues to provide direction and significant influence to other countries in terms of applications on globalization. As the world’s most developed industrialized nation, the US has continued to support democratic ideals in terms of foreign trade, intercultural communication, preservation of the environment, adherence to ethical and moral standards, as well as promotion of human rights: all critical elements for sustained globalization efforts. With more literature and studies being conducted on globalization, a more dynamic and holistic approach has been employed by a wide range of organizations and industries in the US to attest to the growing importance of globalization’s effect and influence in the economies of other nations. As more benefits have been uncovered through actual organizational experiences of global organizations as host companies in the US, the role as proactive contributor to the creation of employment, the generation of revenues, the enhancement of fair competition, the incorporation of diversity in culture, and the exchange of talents, products and services, is definitely entrenched. It could be appropriately acknowledged that the US has been a leader in the promotion, dissemination, and application of globalization efforts. Enrollment in the CIS program of the University of Tampa has been rewarding in terms of realizing one’s personal dream to be more competent and knowledgeable in diverse cultural orientations through enhanced learning in foreign languages, arts history and intercultural interactions with colleagues and mentors. As more contemporary organizations join the globalized bandwagon, their acquisition and screening requirements would immediately recognize that students who were immersed in courses and programs with global knowledge courses are more competent and qualified to practice and apply holistic and dynamic skills through diverse cultures and languages. I am confident that the experience is a plus factor over constituents of the same academic background but who lack the basic theoretical courses and who have acquired insufficient orientation on global perspectives. I am truly blessed to have been accorded the privilege to expand and widen personal awareness in global skills and knowledge through gaining additional competencies in foreign languages, culture, arts; and through the development of a multidisciplinary approach towards learning concepts and applications pertinent to globalization and international studies.
